AGSV Round 1 - Peninsula (Ballan Park)


Round 1 of the AGSV Cross Country Season was hosted by the Peninsula School at Ballan Park, Frankston.

With 46 runners competiting, Camberwell had the largest contigent of any school. The depth of talent in the squad is particularly promising, with experienced senior runners balanced by some great junior talent. Overall, Camberwell finished equal 6th.

In the Junior (7&8) Division, Hanson Wong led the way in 6th place, closely followed by Sam Cooke (8th) Justin Verrocchi (11th) and new recruits Cameron Doig (20th) and Tom Li (21st). A total of 100 points gave the Juniors an outstanding 2nd place.

The Intermediate (9&10) Divsion was led by Cameron Wynn, who finished 33rd on debut. Other impressive runs came from Doug Brown (35th), Konrad Biernacki (36th) and Bill Connor (43rd).

The Seniors (11&12) faced a particularly tough field, with Julian Lim battling hard to finish 27th. Tom Bath (31st), Captain Dustin Biernacki (33rd) and Ben Collins (37th) also ran well. Vice Captain Lawrence Foster was 6th home for CGS and Ashutosh Ghosh finished 40th.

Junior: 2nd, Intermediate: 8th, Senior: 7th
